BL & Gait - High Ds:
General
Extroverts (D & I) tend to turn towards people who are talking and they usually use more facial expressions and hand gestures than Introverts. They will move around the room more and talk to a wider variety of people. It is said that extroverts can hold eye contact longer and break contact by looking to the left.
1. Director - ESTJ.
"Deliberate with snappy designer clothes, even at the supermarket."
Body Language: The Director tends to have good posture and sits and stands up straight. When they move they do so with focus and purpose – they know where they are going and they are anxious to get there. Sometimes, but not always, they can lose sight of what is around them in their quest to get where they need to go. They usually walk deliberately rather than meandering, unless the purpose of the walk is just to enjoy conversation with a friend. The Director tends to have more fixed/tense upper lips. They also tend to have more blunt and succinct movements – head nods and gestures tend to be quick and precise.
Gait Informer™: The Tiptoer. The Director has a deliberate, graceful or tip toeing type of walk which is a sign of their inner confidence, which they have in abundance. The Director has high self-esteem.
Elizabeth Hunter™'s view: Watch out also for what the Director is wearing. They tend to go for the designer brands and are generally immaculately groomed. They finance the wheel nuts for the hairdresser's Porsche.
2. Developer - ENTJ.
"Assertive to the point of being overbearing."
Body Language: The Developer tends to have a focused look about them. They frequently drift their eyes a bit to one side and focus on something slightly downward as they think. They alternate between doing this and gazing intently at the people they are speaking to. They are usually less aware of what is going on around them and they inhabit the world of concepts and imagination and therefore are not naturally as skilled at seeing details. They may even seem awkward in their environment, bumping into things and not noticing details like the edges of tables or the beginning of a flight of stairs. Some Developers learn to overcome this weakness, but it tends to take practice. The Developer tends to infuse more emotion into what they are saying and have more animated, lively facial expressions than the Enhancer Their head movements tend to be more fluid and less rigid. However, they can sometimes become stoic and unreadable in their expression if they are trying to logically analyze something. The Developer tends to use quick head nods and gestures that are precise and to the point. Their movements are sharper and they have more fixed/tense upper lips.
Gait Informer™: The Deliberate, Long and Focussed strider. If you are an executive, a common occupation for the Developer, you normally walk very quickly with long and focussed strides. They walk with confidence with their head up and tend to be absorbed in their thoughts. The Developer often does not mind those around them and may easily bump into others. Remember, they are goal-oriented and are great problem solvers, however, they can also come across as bullying, unfriendly and intense.
Elizabeth Hunter™'s view: This is all about assertion. Watch out as long strides in women may indicate a better sex life, if that is what you are after.
3. Results - ESTP.
"They are out where the action is."
Body Language: One of the first things you will notice about the Results is that they seem attentive yet easy-going. They are usually alert to their environment and they want to enjoy whatever it has to offer. They usually have a great body awareness and are nearly always conscious of what they are doing physically and where they are in relation to everything else. They have fluid movements and rarely bump into things or lose sight of where they are going. The Results tends to use a lot of gesticulations and hand motions in their speech and have a more animated style of speaking. However, when they are analysing something they often appear stoic, flat or unreadable. They lose almost any expression when they are analysing something and tend to look downward and disengage with people. Their eyes often appear wide and alert and they are unlikely to seem distracted and, in fact, they tend to 'lock in' to the person they are speaking to with a steady, piercing gaze.
Gait Informer™: The Quick Burster. The Results can often give off the feeling that their quick burst style is an indication that they are in a hurry. But it is a sign they are super attentive. These people use quick and jerky steps to walk and that focusses their attention.
Elizabeth Hunter™'s view: Look for them rushing around.
4. Inspirational - ENTP.
"The go-getter with others following behind."
Body Language: The Inspirational uses a mental process called extroverted Intuition (Ne). They have very active eyes that dart from place to place as they think of ideas. They tend to have eyes that veer from side-to-side as they scan for mental information. It can appear as if they are looking for something that is lost, but they are trying to find it in their mind, not in the concrete world. Like the Ss and Cs, they are less aware of the concrete world around them. They can struggle with bumping into things, or not seeing the edges of tables or chairs. The Inspirational is usually lively and expressive when they are talking unless they veer into inward analysis. When they get in touch with their thinking process they tend to appear stoic and unreadable.
Gait Informer™: The Fast Walker. The Inspirational is a fast walker, indicating that there is a fair chance being rated as highly outgoing and diligent. It also indicates a higher level of extrovetred traits and low neuroticism. They are high on energy and typically a go-getter. They are courageous and want to have no fuss in life.
Elizabeth Hunter™'s view: Watch out for the frequent guidance of others by walking ahead instead of walking alongside the other person.
BL & Gait - High Is:
General
Extroverts (I & D) tend to turn towards people who are talking and they usually use more facial expressions and hand gestures than Introverts. They will move around the room more and talk to a wider variety of people. It is said that extroverts can hold eye contact longer and break contact by looking to the left.
5. Persuader - ENFJ.
"The person who wants to be seen."
Body Language: The Persuader tends to have a focused look about them. Some Persuaders learn to overcome this weakness, but it tends to take practice. The Persuader tends to infuse more emotion into what they are saying and have more animated, lively facial expressions than the Enhancer and the Developer. Their head movements tend to be more fluid and less rigid. However, they can sometimes become stoic and unreadable in their expression if they are trying to logically analyze something.
Gait Informer™: The Exaggerated Walk of a Politician. The Persuader often walks with liveliness with their head held high, chest forward and shoulders back. They desire acknowledgment and appreciation and are pretty good with status symbols. They enjoy challenges and learning about new experiences, but can get bored easily.
Elizabeth Hunter™'s view: Watch out for a confident speaker who enjoys engaging with people.
6. Appraiser - ESFJ.
"Lots on looking after the family."
Body Language: The Appraiser tends to have good posture and sits and stands up straight. The Appraiser has more fluid, elongated movements. They are more animated facially and tend to exude more warmth and use more hand gestures to show camaraderie. However, sometimes they can become much more stoic and unreadable.
Gait Informer™: The Stroller. The Appraiser usually walks at a slow to medium pace with their body loose and their posture relaxed; an easy strolling gait. Their gestures tend to be small and sometimes they can get caught up in an internal dialogue. They tend to focus on others more than their own tasks and might seem lost while walking with no clear direction. This style indicates a person who is self-assured and confident in their own skin while their apparent lack of urgency shows a high level of self-esteem.
Elizabeth Hunter™'s view: Watch out for a very calm and intuitive style which can also appear to indicate a slacker who is easily influenced. But that is really not the case.
7. Promoter - ENFP.
"So many tasks, walking straight may not be included."
Body Language: The Promoter uses a mental process called Extroverted Intuition (Ne). The Promoter is usually lively and expressive when they are talking unless they veer into inward analysis. When they get in touch with their feeling process they can appear more reserved, but their eyes will still maintain expression.
Gait Informer™: The Left Veerer. The Promoter can be anxious in general, or may be feeling anxious at the moment and they might be more likely to veer to the left as they walk. They have a huge amount of matters unfinished. This veering happens because the right side of the brain works harder in handling dread and doubts.
Elizabeth Hunter™'s view: Watch out for the short attention span as they veer off the path.
8. Counselor - ESFP.
"All they want is to be the centre of attention."
Body Language: One of the first things you will notice about the Counselor is that they seem attentive yet easy-going. They are usually alert to their environment and they want to enjoy whatever it has to offer. They usually have great body awareness and are nearly always conscious of what they are doing physically and where they are in relation to everything else. They have fluid movements and rarely bump into things or lose sight of where they are going. They tend to use a lot of gesticulations and hand motions in their speech and have a more animated style of speaking. However, when they are analysing something they often appear stoic, flat or unreadable. Their eyes often appear wide and alert and they are unlikely to seem distracted and, in fact, they tend to 'lock in' to the person they are speaking to with a steady, piercing gaze.
Gait Informer™: The Showboater or Pronated Walker. The Counselor is the showman who tends to walk very confidently and with intent. They sway arms and hips in an exaggerated way and enjoy attracting attention from everyone. Pronation is the natural side-to-side movement of feet when walking. Ballet dancers often have over pronated feet because they are trying to achieve a graceful leg and foot position. However, this is not a natural way to walk, it takes effort.
Elizabeth Hunter™'s view: Watch out for a head usually held high, shoulders back and the person more focussed on themselves. The Counselor can come off as self-absorbed and unreliable with commanding and charismatic personality traits. Pronation is suggestive of high self-esteem and narcissistic traits.
BL & Gait - High Ss:
Introverts (S & C) will be more rigid in social settings. They will use more closed body positions. Their shoulders tend to pull in, they will orient their bodies more away from other people and will initiate touch less than extroverts. They are more likely to cross their arms in public and they tend to give more personal space to the person they are speaking to. They are less likely to talk with their hands and are less likely to suddenly 'explode' with laughter. They also tend to break eye contact sooner and looking to the right.
9. Specialist - ISFP.
"Busy on the arty project."
Body Language: One of the first things you will notice about the Specialist is that they seem attentive yet easy-going. They are usually alert to their environment and they want to enjoy whatever it has to offer. They usually have a great body awareness and are nearly always conscious of what they are doing physically and where they are in relation to everything else. They have fluid movements and rarely bump into things or lose sight of where they are going. The eyes of a Specialist often appear wide and alert and they are unlikely to seem distracted and, in fact, they tend to 'lock in' to the person they are speaking to with a steady, piercing gaze.
Gait Informer™: The Subtle, Smaller Stride Walker. The Specialist tens to take smaller leg strides coupled with subtle arm gestures indicating a submissive person. If these gestures are out of sync, it indicates a lack of confidence.
Elizabeth Hunter™'s view: Watch out for the lack of confidence, particularly if change is involved.
10. Investigator - INFJ.
"Tend to want to fit in whatever situation they are in, just like a chameleon."
Body Language: The Investigator tends to have a focussed look about them. They tend to appear somewhat detached from their surroundings as they look for underlying meanings and patterns. However, they frequently drift their eyes a bit to one side and focus on something slightly downward as they think. They alternate between doing this and gazing intently at the people they are speaking to. They are usually less aware of what is going on around them. They inhabit the world of concepts and imagination and therefore are not naturally at skilled at seeing minute details. They may even seem awkward in their environment, bumping into things and not noticing details like the edges of tables or the beginning of a flight of stairs. Some Investigators learn to overcome this weakness, but it tends to take practice. They tend to infuse more emotion into what they are saying and have more animated, lively facial expressions than the Enhancer and the Developer. Their head movements tend to be more fluid and less rigid. However, they can sometimes become stoic and unreadable in their expression if they are trying to logically analyze something.
Gait Informer™: The Relaxed Walker. The Investigator tends to walk in a relaxed manner with their head up showing that they are confident. A slow, easy gait shows self-assurance, confidence and lack of urgency. This kind of gait is common in people who are taller than the average person. Tall people also tend to have higher self-confidence. But exercise caution as not all Investigators are tall. Also, if you notice plodding, it may be a sign of depression. Walking with a slow, heavy gait and with head down is symbolic of feeling as if one is are carrying the world’s burdens on their shoulders. However, walking faster with head up can help ease the symptoms of depression. And not all Investigators are depressed.
Elizabeth Hunter™'s view: Watch out for the two walking styles. Investigators can swap. They also swap with confusion between facts and beliefs and an inconsistent approach to tidiness. (Car not washed but vacuum the floor five times per day.
11. Agent - INFP.
"In La La Land."
Body Language: The Agent uses a mental process called Extroverted Intuition (Ne). They have very active eyes that dart from place to place as they think of ideas. They tend to have eyes that veer from side-to-side as they scan for mental information. It can appear as if they are looking for something that is lost, but they are trying to find it in their mind, not in the concrete world. Like Ss and Cs, they are less aware of the concrete world around them. They can struggle with bumping into things, or not seeing the edges of tables or chairs. The Agent is more reserved and maintains a more closed posture and need more physical space between them and the people they are with. They are more likely to be harder to read than the Promoter or the Inspirational.
Gait Informer™: The Worrying, Drag Your Feet Walker. The Agent is an anxious worrier who has trouble dealing with problems and tends to walk very slowly and cautiously. They typically take short strides but may drag their feet. The Agent generally keeps their eyes on the ground and seem unsettled. They tend to be introverted and thoughtful, but they can also seem vulnerable and fearful. (Dragging or shuffling feet with a bent-over posture is associated with Parkinson’s disease and is known as Parkinson’s gait, but not all Agents have tis, obviously.)
Elizabeth Hunter™'s view: Feet draggers make a really irritating sound. Watch out for the cautious approach which is easy to spot.
12. Achiever - ISTP.
"The pattern with the worst temper."
Body Language: One of the first things you wll notice about the Achiever is that they seem attentive, yet easy-going. They are usually alert to their environment and they want to enjoy whatever it has to offer. They usually have the a great body awareness and are nearly always conscious of what they are doing physically and where they are in relation to everything else. They have fluid movements and rarely bump into things or lose sight of where they are going. The Achiever loses almost any expression when they are analysing something and tend to look downward and disengage with people. However, their eyes often appear wide and alert.. They are unlikely to seem distracted and, in fact, they tend to 'lock in' to the person they are speaking to with a steady, piercing gaze.
Gait Informer™: The Stomper Walker. The Achiever is renowned for their temper but they tend to have a long fuse. However, that may come across as a short temper (maybe with an immature nature) as you may not realise that the fuse has already been burning for 11 months and 30 days when the interaction starts. Children often stamp their feet when they are having a tantrum but obviously not all are Achievers. If you see someone stomping out of a meeting and heading down the road, you may well have found an Achiever.
Elizabeth Hunter™'s view: Watch out for the stomping but it is usually after the loss explosion and a Walking Softly Walker may be seen which will require you to identify the Practitioner from the Achiever.
BL & Gait - High Cs:
Introverts (S & C) will be more rigid in social settings. They will use more closed body positions. Their shoulders tend to pull in, they will orient their bodies more away from other people and will initiate touch less than extroverts. They are more likely to cross their arms in public and they tend to give more personal space to the person they are speaking to. They are less likely to talk with their hands and are less likely to suddenly 'explode' with laughter. They also tend to break eye contact sooner and looking to the right.
13. Practitioner - ISFJ.
"The follower."
Body Language: The Practitioner tends to have good posture and sits and stands up straight. The Practitioner tends to have an intensive/focussed gaze and are unlikely to let their eyes wander around the room when they are talking to someone. The Practitioner has more fluid, elongated movements. They are more animated facially and tend to exude more warmth and use more hand gestures to show camaraderie. However, sometimes they can become much more stoic and unreadable.
Gait Informer™: The Walking Softly, Supporter Walker. The Practitioner often comes across as relaxed and comfortable with their lives. They are easy-going folk who tend to get on with everyone and do not cause drama. They tend to walk in medium-paced, confident strides. The Practitioner is also a cooperative team player and is a good listener who speaks thoughtfully and values unity and relationships. They are helpful, loyal, and dependable. A simple phone call from their loved ones can easily brighten their day. Although introverted, they like gestures, making eye contact and interacting with people while walking.
Elizabeth Hunter™'s view: Watch out for talk about the family and passive-aggressiveness when a conflict arises when they stop walking!
14. Objective Thinker - ISTJ.
"Perpetually calm."
Body Language: The Objective Thinker tends to have good posture and sits and stands up straight. The OT tends to have an intensive/focussed gaze and are unlikely to let their eyes wander around the room when they are talking to someone. They tend to have more fixed/tense upper lips. They also tend to have more blunt and succinct movements – head nods and gestures tend to be quick and precise.
Gait Informer™: The Slow Walker. The Objective Thinker's slower walking speed is indicative of a more (too) cautious attitude to life and are they are looking out for themselves. If a lowered head and a slow walk, it could confirm their an introverted nature. The slower, shorter strides tend to indicate being more self-centred, although not in a bad way. The Objective Thinker is calm, relaxed, undemanding and laidback. However, for women, short strides might be due to aches in the calves and hamstrings or it could even be a sign of an emerging hip problem and these women may well not be an Objective Thinker.
Elizabeth Hunter™'s view: Watch out for a slow walk and calm disposition.
15. Perfectionist - INTP.
"Mind running at top speed."
Body Language: The Perfectionist uses Extroverted Intuition (Ne). They have very active eyes that dart from place to place as they think of ideas. They tend to have eyes that veer from side-to-side as they scan for mental information. It can appear as if they are looking for something that is lost, but they are trying to find it in their mind, not in the concrete world. Like all Cs and Ss they are less aware of the concrete world around them. They can struggle with bumping into things, or not seeing the edges of tables or chairs. The Perfectionist is more reserved and maintains a more closed posture and need more physical space between them and the people they are with. They are more likely to be hardInspirational.
Gait Informer™: The Multitasking Walker. The Perfectionist has a mind that is constantly running through a million different thoughts and ideas. They can juggle so many different thoughts at once, which makes juggling physical tasks even more difficult. They are capable of multitasking when it comes to things they understand well and know how to execute already. While they might prefer to focus on one thing at a time, they are surprisingly capable of multi-tasking. If they multitask and walk simultaneously, it tends to indicate uniqueness and creativity since this kind of person is imaginative as they walk. They can handle a number of things all at once, often answering a call, directing someone and even crossing the road all at the same time. This indicates bravery, reputation as the absent minded professor and that of a problem solver who is always keen on helping their friends or pets in need.
Elizabeth Hunter™'s view: Watch out for the risk of confusing multitasking with the High Is. Their multitasking is a secondary characteristic; others shown above are more indicative. High I multitasking is a result of too many things going on at once and disorganisation.
16. Enhancer - INTJ.
"Deisplaying renowned self-sufficiency."
Body Language: The Enhancer tends to have a focussed look about them. They tend to appear somewhat detached from their surroundings as they look for underlying meanings and patterns. However they frequently drift their eyes a bit to one side and focus on something slightly downward as they think. Some Enhancers learn to overcome this weakness, but it tends to take practice. The Enhancer tends to use quick head nods and gestures that are precise and to the point. Their movements are sharper and they have more fixed/tense upper lips.
Gait Informer™: The Slumped Shoulders and Corrector Walker. The Enhancer usually walks by taking small steps while slightly bent or hunched over. They also avoid making eye contact with those around them. This is because the Enhancer is normally quite introverted and shy and not the slightest bit interested in other walkers. They are trying to protect their inner self. They tend to be on guard before they make any strong or genuine connections.
Elizabeth Hunter™'s view: Watch out for this pattern not being interested in other walkers. Be careful not to confuse slumped shoulders which may indicate any pattern might have gone through anxiety, especially a trauma recently and are yet to recover from it. In this case, the a person hunching over is showing a sign that they are subconsciously protecting their hearts from further heartache. That may not be an Enhancer that you are observing.
