it can make it easy for you to pick their pattern

Is the other person just 
							eating or over or under eating?
Observing people, the masses, eat can be handy when picking someone's pattern prior to imposing correctly.

In interesting research, conducted by Raymond Hawkins of the University of Texas at Austin, et. al., among female college students found that women who prefer Intuition and Feeling - i.e. The Idealists or Social Justice Warriors, Click here, are significantly more likely to have tendencies toward binge eating. The study was conducted with women who were considered to be at risk for an eating disorder, but not diagnosed with a full-blown disorder such as bulimia. The study found no correlation between weight and personality type and binge eaters who were also overweight had a personality type distribution similar to women who were not binge eaters. However, among college women who were of normal weight and also reported binge eating behaviour, the Idealists and, in particular the Persuader, were significantly overrepresented. Are these the types to have tents at the Melbourne Cup Carnival?

1. Can it be the Director - ESTJ?

Food Connecshun™ - how does this dog go?

The Director is very task oriented and they often see mealtimes as another item to check off their 'to do' list. They usually eat at the same times every day and enjoy a variety of meals that they come back to again and again. Their auxiliary Introverted Sensing makes them especially aware of flavours and they may be sensitive to especially spicy or strong flavours, unless they were raised eating these types of food. As a child, the Director tends to be a picky eater and they may prefer to stick to a few favourite meals.

If the Director is in a stressful situation they may handle anger or frustration by overeating or indulging in some other way, but this does vary from person to person.

While greed and gluttony are technically two separate vices, they involve the desire for more and more and more. That may be clothing, food or wealth. The Director, together with the Persuader, is known to be fixated on social status, which can lend itself to greediness.

This pattern has an issue with people touching their food; it suggests that they are extremely organised, which they are. They like to keep things neat and clean and are trying their best to avoid a mess of any sort.
They also organizes all the food on their plate as they hate to see the different foods on their plates touch each other. Their need to keep everything tidied up and organized makes them very good at their work, being in full control of their tasks. Their home will probably be spotless, since they hate messy situations. It is possible for them to get extremely nervous when things do not go as planned and they will need to start making compromises for the sake of their health.

2. Can it be the Developer - ENTJ?

The Developer is the German Shepherd

Food Connecshun™ - how does this dog go?

The Developer is very goal oriented and who can get lost in their vision and forget to eat enough or stay hydrated. When they are in pursuit of their vision they may suppress their tertiary Extroverted Sensing and focus entirely on their plan for the future. However, when that goal is completed they often enjoy celebrating with a lavish meal or favourite drink. The Developer tends to enjoy rich, flavourful foods and there is usually nothing new they are not open to trying. Because Extroverted Sensing is the relief function, they can make a hobby out of trying new and decadent flavours.

The Developer is not usually a picky eater and they are likely to be very logical about what they eat. If they eat too much they are usually pretty good about exercising to stay fit. This is their favourite leisure activity. While the Developer appreciates a delicious and exciting meal, they tend to not make a habit out of overeating or 'binging'.

This pattern has a focus on finishing food really fast. In fact, they do not even care about chewing their food properly. They are great at getting things done and bosses love this quality. These folk who finish their food in five minutes indicate that they must be really good at multitasking. Fast eaters never miss a deadline and usually make it a day or two before. They are also very competitive and always on the run which means that they are bound to miss some very important moments in their own lives. They can be so caught up in fulfilling all their obligations that they forget to take care of themselves. Fast eating indicates very ambitious, goal-oriented and open to new experiences but they may also have a tendency to be impatient - The Developer.

3. Can it be the Results - ESTP?

The Results is the Jack Russell Terrier

Food Connecshun™ - how does this dog go?

The Results likes new and exciting flavours and they tend to be adventurous food connoisseurs. Their dominant Extroverted Sensing gives them a love of flavourful and decadent cuisine. They are willing to try just about anything and they can grow especially fond of sweets and fun snack foods that are rich and tasty. Many Results like to snack when they are bored, but some may listen to music, exercise or do something hands-on and creative.

Novel foods and tastes are exciting for the Results. They are less likely than the Director, OT, Appraiser and Practitioner to notice when they are full or hungry and they may overeat and not realise they are full till they develop a stomach ache. However, Results are generally very active and physically oriented so they tend to burn off a lot of calories and avoid a sedentary lifestyle. They also tend to care about their appearance and takes steps to ensure they are healthy and physically fit. Many Results make excellent chefs because of their natural creativity and knack for experimenting with unique blends and exotic spices.

This pattern loves spicy food as they are usually dangerous people. They can change from a complete sweetheart to a vicious person in seconds. But they are the first to help out if someone is stuck with a problem.
This pattern also loves sampling new cuisines, this indicates a love for adventure. May go at a restaurant to try to find the weirdest, most unique dish. People who do this usually like to take risks and are not afraid they will fail. They will even say "yes" to the craziest idea, wanting to get out of their comfort zone and try new things. Nobody ever perceives them as boring and many admire them for their bravery and risk-taking decisions. However, they should be careful to not pressure others to be as adventurous as they are, since not everyone is fit for taking risks.

4. Can it be the Inspirational - ENTP?

The Inspirational is the Bull Terrier

Food Connecshun™ - how does this dog go?

The Inspirational enjoys the social aspect of sharing a favourite meal with friends. Because they have inferior Introverted Sensing they can struggle with being aware of their body’s hunger cues. They may get caught up in thoughts or ideas and forget to eat or drink as they pursue new possibilities. This period of unawareness may go on for several days until they start realising they feel sick, dizzy or especially lethargic.

Intuitive dominant personalities, in general, are most likely to be unaware of their body’s hunger cues and go for periods without eating. When the Inspirational ignores their inferior Introverted Sensing for long, this may result in an Introverted Sensing eruption. When this happens, the Inspitarional may become especially focussed on food and indulging in their favourite meals. When in the grip of Introverted Sensing they become uncharacteristically quiet, withdrawn and, in extreme cases, may become especially aware of inner body sensations and become concerned they are suffering from a life-threatening illness.

It is especially important for the Inspirational to have reminders to eat healthy meals and snacks throughout the day so they can avoid malnutrition or side effects.

This pattern is not afraid to show the world who they are and you are not afraid to let people know exactly what they want.
One of the most annoying things that can happen when sitting at the table with someone is having them chew their food loudly and talk with food in their mouth or slurp their soup. They are just plain rude. This pattern is very extroverted and friendly and they do not care about what others think of them. They never worry about anything and they treat every little trouble that comes their way with a relaxed attitude. It is very possible that they could have a hard time fitting in with others due to their oversharing attitude.

5. Can it be the Persuader - ENFJ?

The Persuader is the Boxer

Food Connecshun™ - how does this dog go?

The Persuader enjoys using food as a way to engage socially with others. They often love cooking for their friends or meeting up at a favourite restaurant. The tertiary Extroverted Sensing gives them a fondness for fine flavours and adventurous cuisine. They love using food to cheer people up, comfort and create a celebratory feeling. The Persuader, like other intuitive types, may forget to eat when they are especially absorbed in a project or meeting a goal. However, because their sensing is tertiary they do not have as much of an issue with this as intuitive-dominant personalities.

If the Persuader relies too heavily on Extroverted Feeling and Sensing they can struggle with over-eating because they see eating as a social obligation and have difficulty turning down treats and food at parties or gatherings. Other Persuader may struggle with serving other people the best and only getting the 'leftovers', which essentially means they are so concerned with providing healthy meals for their families and good food for their friends, that they lose track of their own nutritional needs. They may snack throughout the day or get so busy taking care of others and feeding them that they forget to feed themselves. It is important for the Persuader to put their needs first when it comes to their health and making sure they get adequate nutrition.

But this pattern also likes eating desserts it indicates that they are calm and kindhearted. These are the kind of people who will always be up to listen to others' problems. At the same time, they will not be so open about the issues in their lives. This may contribute to weight issues.

The Appraiser is the Great Dane

The Appraiser enjoys the social opportunities that food can provide. They are usually very good hosts, providing delicious meals for their friends and those close. They use food as a way to reach out to people and take care of them. If someone is sick they are likely to show up with a hot meal at their doorstep, if someone is sad they may bake them a batch of cookies. While there is variation, the Appraiser enjoys using food as a way to reach out to other people and show that they care. They are more attached to the idea behind the food than the food itself.

The Appraiser is usually aware of their own hunger cues and tend to eat at the same times every day. They often enjoy a selection of favourite foods that they come back to again and again. They have been known to overeat when they are worried or stressed but if they are in a balanced state, they are not prone to over-eating.

This pattern is fond of sour food and are truly one of a kind. They find little joys in everything and have a certain innocence about them. These people are loved by everyone.

7. Can it be the Promoter - ENFP?

The Promoter is the Golden Retriever

Food Connecshun™ - how does this dog go?

The Promoter loves the social aspect of sharing a meal with others. They love meeting up at restaurants or coffee shops and discussing their latest ideas over a favourite dish. However, on their own they are not especially aware of their body’s signals. This is because of inferior Introverted Sensing. When the Promoter is caught up in an idea or possibility they may forget to eat for long periods of time. This kind of experience is relatively typical for intuitive-dominant personalities.

When the Promoter is experiencing chronic stress or they have over-used their dominant intuition, they may experience a 'grip' reaction. When this occurs, their inferior Introverted Sensing takes over, often in an unhealthy way. They may eat more than usual, but it is more common that other activities are undertaken such as becoming obsessed with organising or cleaning or filing things away. They may also become hyper-aware of inner-body sensations and start worrying that they have a life-threatening illness.

It is important for the Promoter to remember to eat and drink - even using their a phone app to issue reminders. The Promoter is less likely to skip meals if they have something readily available to grab and eat without much preparation or distraction from their visions.

This pattern mixes different food together love to take things upon themselves. Likely to Vegetarian and / or Vegan. The bosses are always happy because they are willing to take more and more responsibilities. But this pattern tends to over-commit which lands them in trouble. This is a constant conclusion on this site.
A mixer usually combines all the food on their plate and takes a bite that includes a little bit of everything. These pattern is usually outgoing and friendly and they like taking on multiple responsibilities at their workplace. They love their job, but they know how to make time for their loved ones, and they usually create healthy relationships. However, sometimes their over-eagerness to multitask can exhaust them and make them lose track of deadlines, together with their minds, over the extra amount of work.

8. Can it be the Counselor - ESFP

The Counselor is the Poodle

Food Connecshun™ - how does this dog go?

The Counselor enjoys the celebratory aspect of eating. They love to gather at a favourite restaurant with friends, or try new and exciting dishes from around the world. They tend to be natural foodies, since new flavous and tastes stimulate their dominant Extroverted Sensing. They tend to be active and concerned with their physical appearance, so they often try to keep an eye on what they eat and avoid overeating. However, the Counselor who focusses too much on stimulating their Extroverted Sensing at the expense of their other functions may binge eat, watch too much TV, or find other sensory stimulations to indulge in.

Because the Counselor does not have Introverted Sensing as a primary function they may struggle with discerning when they are full. They may also get wrapped up in an activity and forget to eat. It is important for them to take the time to slow down while they eat and notice their body’s signals.

The Counselor can make an excellent, creative chef and can enjoy experimenting with different exotic herbs and spices to create one-of-a-kind dishes for friends and family. e.g. Jamie Oliver.

9. Can it be the Specialist - ISFP

The Specialist is the Saint Bernard

The Specialist enjoys experimenting with flavours and tastes and many of them can be very creative chefs. Their auxiliary Extroverted Sensing gives them a love of rich, fine flavours and sweet treats. They tend to be adventurous epicureans and are usually open to trying new and exciting dishes. However, they also tend to be physically active and concerned with staying in shape, so they may exercise self-control and restraint more often than other types when they eat.

The Specialist, together with all other Extroverted Sensors, can fall into the trap of eating when they become bored but they may also have healthier outlets such as drawing, listening to music, exercising or reading.

Eating Habits™ - Subconsconsciously and often compulsively. Carefully prepares their food into small pieces.

This pattern likes to cut their meal into bite-sized pieces before starting to eat. It is their forward-thinking mind and organizational skills that make them act like this. They are big dreamers and have great aspirations for their career, even if everyone else thinks that they live in a bubble. They also like to make plans with friends in advance so they have their schedule worked out. What they should be careful of is to not miss the present while trying to figure out their future.

10. Can it be the Investigator - INFJ?

The Investigator is the Greyhound

Food Connecshun™ - how does this dog go?

The Investigator tends to have a love/hate relationship with food and this is largely due to their highly subconscious sensing functions. They tend to be very out of touch with their physical bodies because they have inferior Extroverted Sensing and because Introverted Sensing is their 'demon function'. This 'demon function' gives someone inner-body awareness and because this is the Investigator's least-conscious function, they have a very difficult time discerning when they are hungry, full or accurately reading their body’s cues. Some may not realise that they are hungry until they start feeling sick or developing headaches. They may forget to eat or drink as they pursue their passions. When eating, they usually enjoy a variety of foods and are open to trying new things. They may struggle with knowing when they are full, when they need more food or if they are thirsty. If an Investigator is distracted they may not even be able to taste their food because their mind is elsewhere.

If an Investigator relies too heavily on their intuition or under stress it can result in overeating and over-indulging. They may want especially strong flavours to become more in touch with their physical self. If frequently stressed, they may have significant trouble with over-eating and 'binging' as a result of so frequently being in the grip of sensing. However, not all Investigators overeat when they are stressed. The Investigator is the most common type with an eating disorder. With a perfectionistic tendency this may result in a tendency towards anorexia and bulimia.

It is important for the Investigator to make sure they are meeting their nutritional needs and that they are not being pushed to the one extreme of overeating or the opposite extreme of malnutrition. Setting reminders on their phones to drink or eat, following a meal plan and getting support to maintain healthy habits is especially important.

This pattern loves eating bitter food as their first impression about someone is usually negative. Although it evens out eventually, they are reluctant to make new friends. Likely to Vegetarian and / or Vegan.

11. Can it be the Agent - INFP?

The Agent is the Tibetan Terrier

Food Connecshun™ - how does this dog go?

The Agent has tertiary Introverted Sensing which gives them a certain awareness of their body’s signals, however it is also not well-developed (usually) until mid-life. This results in many young Agents struggling with an awareness of their own hunger or thirst. They may become absorbed in an activity or thought and lose track of time, skipping meals or becoming dehydrated. Overall, the Agent is not especially food-oriented although there are variations from individual to individual. Many like foods that they have come to enjoy again and again. and they tend to be picky eaters as young children.

If the Agent thinks that they are not an Agent (i.e. they are in La la Land! which is relatively common) they may be much more adventurous with new tastes. The majority of Agents prefer to eat alone or with a few close friends as opposed to eating at large gatherings or parties. Isolation gives the Agent the ability to relax and truly enjoy the flavours and sensations of the food they eat.

Eating Habits™ - Subconsconsciously and often compulsively. Reluctance to try New Foods.

This pattern may never have grown out of their childhood likes and dislikes, or the tendency to turn up their nose at an unfamiliar cuisine. This eater can often be found asking a waiter if the dish can be served without sauce or with dressing on the side. There is a good chance this person is a little neurotic away from the table, too. Ranks up at either 1 or 2 out of the 16 patterns for neuroticism.
Research on 'food neophobia' (the reluctance to try new foods) shows that it is related to certain personality traits, including lower sensation seeking, anxiety and neuroticism. Those high in food neophobia appear to associate many avoided foods with a sense of disgust. This is La La Land - the Agent's home. Also likely to Vegetarian and / or Vegan.

12. Can it be the Achiever - ISTP?

The Achiever is the Bassett Hound

The Achiever who enjoys good use of their auxiliary Extroverted Sensing tends to be true connoisseurs of good food. They enjoy fine flavours and are adventurous in their palettes. Some see eating as a simply utilitarian function and eat merely because they have to. But most Achiever know how to relish each bite and enjoy new and different varieties of cuisine.

The Achiever has no problem saying no to unwanted food at a social gathering so social overeating is less likely to be a problem. They are fond of trying new things and are not as concerned with eating at the same time each day or having the same food at every meal. They like to try new and novel treats and high-quality delicacies.

This pattern loves eating bitter food and are those whose first impression about someone are usually negative. Though it evens out eventually, they are reluctant in making new friends. Nonetheless, these people are also the first ones to anticipate something bad.

13. Can it be the Practitioner - ISFJ?

The Practitioner is the Alaskan Malamute

Food Connecshun™ - how does this dog go?

The Practitioner is similar to the Perfectionist in their relationship with food. They are usually diligent at maintaining meal times and they often have a selection of favourite foods they come back to again and again. Because their dominant function is Introverted Sensing they are usually aware of their body’s hunger cues and are less likely to skip meals or forget to eat or drink. They may be picky eaters as children, carefully avoiding new and unfamiliar foods or being wary of strong or spicy flavours. If the Practitioner is raised on strong or spicy foods they will usually be more adventurous in their tastes and less likely to be satisfied with bland meals. The more they are used to eating a certain meal or type of food, the more likely they are to enjoy that same meal into adulthood.

Because the Practitioner has auxiliary Extroverted Feeling, they may use food as a way to reach out to their friends and family and show they care. Many enjoy creating delicious meals for those close or helping out in their communities and organisations by contributing to bake sales, soup kitchens, etc. etc.. They may have a difficult time turning down food at a social gathering for fear of being rude to the host.

Most Practitioners are aware enough of when they are full that they do not overeat as a habit. Some who are imbalanced or immature in their growth may focus too heavily on Introverted Sensing may develop an excessive love of food or drink, but this is rare. Tend to go to the same joints over and over again - boring.

This pattern has really specific food requests as they have a comfort zone from which they they have both difficulty and hate in getting out. It is very unusual for a picky eater to order at a restaurant without asking any questions or requesting to omit or add some ingredients. These people are very safe in their comfort zone and are very afraid to take that extra step that might reveal something they did not know about themselves. Have a well deserved repotation of being drop dead boring. They only take jobs that they know perfectly well and do not take any risks, fearing that they might fail. However, they are very eager learners and are not afraid to ask questions and learn things they previously did not know.

Food Connecshun™ - how does this dog go?

The OT is usually very diligent about maintaining mealtimes and usually has a variety of favourite foods they come back to again and again. Because they are Introverted Sensors they can usually tell when they are hungry, full, thirsty or dehydrated. They tend to take care of their body’s needs and are unlikely to lose track of mealtimes. They are usually very aware of flavours and, as a result, may be sensitive to especially strong or spicy foods, unless they were raised eating such types of foods regularly.

The OT is very habit-oriented with food; they like what they know and tend to not be as adventurous in their palettes as the Results, Achiever, Counselor, Specialist, Persuader, Investigator, Developer or Enhancer. Most are not prone to overeating because they determine when they are full much better than most other types. However, unhealthy OTs who focus too extensively on inner-body sensations and flavours may become overly indulgent with food and develop an excessive love of food or drink. Those who grow up in an unhealthy environment may get into a habit of unhealthy eating and it can be especially hard for them to break this habit because the more they do something the more it becomes enjoyable to them.

This pattern focusses on eating one food at a time before moving on to the next indicating that they are methodical and rigid in their approach. They are detail-oriented and think thoroughly before making a decision.
This indicates an attribute of being detail-oriented and those who are like this think everything through very carefully. This is why they are usually very successful at what they do and are praised for being so thorough with their work. They see the little details that everyone else misses. However, they should be patient with others who do not follow the same strategy when getting things done.

The Perfectionist tends to be immersed in their thoughts and hobbies and they may see mealtimes as an unwelcome interruption. Because they have tertiary Introverted Sensing, they tend to have favourite meals that they come back to again and again when they are in a relaxed state of mind. Mostly, they try to find the quickest, easiest meals that they can put together without having to spend a lot of time at it. They usually have a good sense of when they are full and are less likely than many types to have issues with overeating.

Some Perfectionists enjoy using their Extroverted Intuition as a way to experiment with different unique foods and flavours to create their own signature dishes. However, this is less common with this pattern than with others.

This pattern is never in hurry and believes in living in the present. At work, they are never in a hurry to get things done. They are stubborn and like sticking to routines.
Eating at a slow pace may be one of the most annoying things if you are the person that has already finished and waiting on someone else - the Perfectionist. However, people who do not seem to be in a rush to empty their plate want to enjoy every moment in their lives with absolutely no hurry. They follow this pattern in their workplace and personal life and sometimes it can make them lose track of time. Also, their co-workers and fellow diners might get annoyed by how long they take to finish one task and move on to another.

16. Can it be the Enhancer - INTJ?

The Enhancer can go from ignoring food for long periods of time to being the most adventurous epicureans. Because they have inferior Extroverted Sensing they tend to be unaware of their body’s hunger cues. Their Introverted Sensing is the least conscious of all their functions which may be called their 'demon function'. Because this Introverted Sensing gives the user an awareness of inner-body sensations like hunger or thirst, those with this in their shadow functions may be unaware of when they are hungry, when they are full or when they are thirsty. Many do not realise they are hungry until they start feeling sick or developing headaches. They may forget to eat or drink as they pursue their vision or plan for the future.

When they do eat, they usually enjoy a variety of foods and are happy to try new things. If they are focussed on a goal or a project, they may not even be able to taste their food because their mind is elsewhere.

When the Enhancer is under stress, the Extroverted Sensing takes over in an immature, unhealthy form. The Enhancer, who normally is focussed on moderation and a big-picture vision may suddenly become impulsive and reckless. They may binge eat or deny food altogether. They may crave especially strong flavours to become more in touch with their physical bodies. The Enhancer is the second-most common type with an eating disorder. As very perfectionistic individuals it is believed that this might contribute to their focus on weight and size.

The Enhancer should ensure that they are meeting their nutritional needs and that they are not being pushed to one extreme of overeating or the opposite extreme of malnutrition. Setting reminders on their phones to drink or eat, following a meal plan and having plenty of healthy food readily available is especially important for this pattern.

Many Perfectionists turn up as Enhancers from online personality tests. The Perfectionist is very aware of inner-body sensation because they have dominant Introverted Sensing. They can usually tell pretty quickly when they are hungry or full and they tend to have favourite foods that they come back to again and again. The Enhancer, in contrast, tends to be very unaware of their body’s hunger cues and, when they do eat, are less likely to have the same things again and again.

This pattern never shares food as what they order is for them, so please do not steal my french fries.
When dining out with other people it is quite common to offer to share our food out of courtesy. However, not the Enhancer. Others might think they are selfish. A non-judgmental person might think that they just like their independence and individuality and do not want to share your food just because it is the polite thing to do. They simply order a main course for themselves and do not want to share it with anyone. So, bugger off.

This pattern also cuts food into proper bites at they are usually forward thinkersd. At work, they consistently work hard to move up the ladder. In a relationship, they are always looking for something meaningful and long term.

Kid: "Wait, what? Whatever, fine."
Enhancer: "Why, thank you. Oh also, there will be an additional fee of $200 if you would like to purchase the cure to the poisonous bacteria that was in the slice that you just ate."
