Situation - You are observing PROCRASTINATION, BULLTISH and THE HANDLING of DEADLINES
When they procrastinate or bulltish or are hopeless with deadlines,
it can make it easy for you to pick their pattern
Procrastination is an extremely annoying phenomenon. It is avoiding a problem.
We also detail how an individual may be able to lessen it.
Many of our cohort do not like this page - so you are strongly encouraged to continue.
To procrastinate is defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary as: "to put off intentionally and habitually"
and "to put off intentionally the doing of something that should be done".
It is more than just voluntarily delaying. It is doing something against better judgment. Dr. Piers Steel,
a professor of motivational psychology at the University of Calgary says "It’s self-harm".
Dr. Fuschia Sirois, professor of psychology at the University of Sheffield says "It doesn’t make sense to do
something you know is going to have negative consequences. People engage in this irrational cycle of chronic
procrastination because of an inability to manage negative moods around a task."
Oxor™ defines prosrastination as the the ultimate thief of time.
Oxor™ acknowledges, with gratitude, the Patron Saint Against Procrastination: St. Expiditius.
Oxor™ thinks that the tendency for delays is greater in the Perceiving (P) types per MBTI.
These eight tend to delay and procrastinate. The rankings are:
1. Promoter; 2. Inspirational; 3. Perfectionist; 4. Agent; 5. Specialist; 6. Counselor; 7. Results; 8. Achiever.
We also have a measure on who are the worst and what tasks you should never have a procrastinator do. Let us tell you that procrastinators hate this analysis.
We outline 'As The Bulltish Artist in Action™' for each pattern.
Deadlines can be a vital way to get projects finished for some people, while for others it is simply stressful. Oxor outlines what to watch out for.
Here is the procrastination, bulltish and response to deadlines of all sixteen patterns - you will be here, no question!
We also have some per Parkinson's Law.
You will most likely need assistance :-) This might tell you what but it will not tell you how.
1. Can it be the Director - ESTJ?
Main procrastination focus: On leisure time and reflecting on their own feelings.
Tag team: The Developer procrastinates in a similar fashion.
Dialogue: The director is extremely focussed on productivity, achievement and producing results. They hate to dilly-dally when it comes to almost anything except managing their own emotions, feelings and values. They can also fail to make time for the simpler pleasures in life because they are so focussed on getting things done. Because these types prefer the world of logic and empirical truth they can struggle when it comes to analysing their own individual feelings about things. They feel like their emotions are unreliable and not worth giving credence to. This tendency tends to lessen as they reach their 50s and 60s because their inferior function, Introverted Feeling, tends to mature also.
Dealing with Procrastination:
The Director should practice being present in the moment for at least fifteen minutes a day.
Take in all the sights and sounds and find ways to appreciate those moments.
Think of something leisurely and enjoyable to do. Do not constantly put off living life because you are working.
Before jumping right into a major decision, take a few moments to reflect on what is really important
to you on a personal level. Identify any “gut” feelings about this decision that might be worth paying attention to.
Try not to be “busy” every single minute of the day. Practice turning off your phone
when you are with those close. Practice being present so you don’t miss out on important experiences.
Procrastination Warning. Low. Directors are go getters, so now worries here. It is often said of the Director: Q: "How do you do all the things that you do?" A: "I do not procrastinate - I get on with it."
Procrastination Ranking. 1 is Ph.D. level. 15/16. Low. Has completed tomorrow's work yesterday.
Task warning. Directors are go getters so no worries here.
As The Bulltish Artist in Action™. Directors can bulltish their way through court, even if guilty.
Per Parkinson's Law. Known for their dedication and commitment to their jobs, they can easily develop workaholic-like tendencies and thus fall prey to Parkinson's law. They can also display a high level of perfectionism that motivates them to invest as much time as they are given into their projects and assignments (which may be a lot more time than is really necessary).
Deadline Ranking and Commentary™. 1/16. Directors enjoy having deadlines and often prefer having something like this to keep them focussed. They do not become fearful under pressure and would much rather push themselves to get things done in time. They are motivated and hardworking people who believe in being as efficient as possible. They will do whatever it takes to work efficiently and push themselves to finish their projects in time and to their own high standards.
Accountability Perspective: Reliable. Wants it done their way and they will get the job done. They feel personally responsible for upholding the standard and formulating a very clear picture of what passes and what does not. Is on time.
2. Can it be the Developer - ENTJ?
Main procrastination focus: On leisure time and reflecting on their own feelings.
Tag team: The Director procrastinates in a similar fashion.
Dialogue: The developer is extremely focussed on productivity, achievement and producing results. They hate to dilly-dally when it comes to almost anything except managing their own emotions, feelings and values. They can also fail to make time for the simpler pleasures in life because they are so focussed on getting things done. This is especially true of the Developer.
Developers are go getters so now worries here. It is often said of the Developer: Q: "How do you do all the things that you do?" A: "I do not procrastinate - I get on with it."
Procrastination Ranking. 1 is Ph.D. level. 14/16. Low. Has completed tomorrows work yesterday.
Task warning. Developers are go getters so no worries here.
As The Bulltish Artist in Action™. Developers can bulltish their way through a memorial service.
Per Parkinson's Law. Not really applicable to them. They are definitely good with time management since it is important for doing things efficiently. They always strive to the best at everything they do, which often requires being able to properly manage their time. This also helps them be good at leading others and getting them to be on time with matters. Time management helps them to navigate things in a way that really gets the job done. For them, being late for things or missing deadlines is often a sign of laziness or disrespect. They do not believe in falling behind, so they work hard to manage their time the right way.
Deadline Ranking and Commentary™. 4/16. Developers do like having deadlines since it helps them schedule their work and their lives appropriately. They enjoy having some freedom and some space to do things on their own terms. They have a creative side and, because of this, they do not want things to be constantly structured. While they do not need too many restraints they do benefit from having deadlines. They are efficient people who work hard to ensure that everything around them is taken care of properly and to their own rather high standards.
Accountability Perspective: Reliable. Approaches their responsibilities with vigor and drive. Wants it done and will put the rocket up the team if required. Is on time.
3. Can it be the Results - ESTP?
Main procrastination focus: On long term decisions and follow through.
Tag team: The Counselor procrastinates in a similar fashion.
Dialogue: The Results have a knack for responding quickly to immediate needs and emergencies. They are naturally spontaneous, flexible and observant. Because this is their natural mode of operating, they tend to procrastinate about things that take a prolonged focus on only one thing. They like to mix things up, work for a little while then play for a little while and react to any surprise incoming events that might be enjoyable or exciting. They tend to procrastinate about getting organised because they would rather look at options, generate alternatives, or discover something fresh, new, and stimulating. As sensors, Results would rather stay involved in the moment than plan out future commitments and obligations. They want to feel like they are getting something done now so they can procrastinate about commitments and decisions that will have a long-term impact.
Dealing with Procrastination:
The Results should find a way to pair a mundane task with something enjoyable. e.g. listen to music while ironing.
Get sloshed after finishing the research paper.
Find a friend to keep you accountable. This is important.
Can be more motivated when around people. Do some work at a coffee shop.
Need frequent breaks to get their energy out. Take little pauses in the middle of a big project to jog
or walk around the block. Then come back refreshed and ready to continue.
Delete social media apps on your phone until your project is finished.
Procrastination Warning. Watch out as they can be disorganised especially with a long term outlook. Just searches surf and skateboard stuff but gets the task done the day before and does okay. Impulsive.
Procrastination Ranking. 1 is Ph.D. level. 7/16. High. Standard procrastinator.
Task warning. Excellent crisis managers. Do not like boring tasks. Goes well under pressure.
As The Bulltish Artist in Action™. Results can bulltish their way through anything if they lie.
Per Parkinson's Law. They do not always think through the consequences when they make commitments and, as a result, they will frequently overcommit. They often carry a heavy burden on their shoulders because they do not manage time very well and have a difficult time in saying ‘no'. Too often if you give them a decent amount of time to finish something, they will see it as an opportunity to fit in something new.
Deadline Ranking and Commentary™. 1 Is Ph.D. level in meeting them; at the last minute. 13/16. Results do require deadlines in order to get things finished, but they will likely save everything until the last minute. They are procrastinators and enjoy being able to live in the moment without constant stress. They do not want to struggle to get things done, they simply have a hard time motivating themselves. They will likely handle their deadlines by leaving things until the last minute, but will somehow get everything finished.
Accountability Perspective: Reliable. But the last minute manager. Great in an emergency; not good in long term and detailed circumstances. Is frequently late.
4. Can it be the Inspirational - ENTP?
Main procrastination focus: On tasks that require detail and physical needs.
Tag team: The Promoter procrastinates in a similar fashion.
Dialogue: The Inspirational is led by their inspiration and want to pursue original, novel ideas. They want to experiment, theorize, extrapolate and create. The more they engage with the outer world the more ideas they can envision. They like to brainstorm projects and tasks and even more excited to start the projects, but when it comes to the detail work and methodical focus needed to finish the project they tend to get sidetracked. Maintaining a prolonged, steady focus without taking breaks can be mind-numbing. Taking care of physical maintenance can also be a struggle – e.g. remembering to eat healthy foods, drink enough water or sleep at the appropriate times.
Dealing with Procrastination:
The Inspirational should create a “Vision board” full of creative inspiration and quotes that will help
to stay on track and focus on goals.
Break large projects down into bite-sized pieces so that they do not feel as daunting.
Give yourself rewards for each small step taken towards your goal. e.g. listen to a song after each paragraph you write in
your research paper.
Recognise that the Inspirational is a sprinter” more than a marathoner.
Set reminders on your phone to drink water, eat meals, exercise or get to bed.
Find an accountability buddy to help motivate you to stay on track.
Understand that good habits take time to become natural. It takes at least 21 days of repetition for something to become automatic. Just aim for those 21 days, and if you mess up, you can always try again.
Procrastination Warning. Extreme. Terrible with detail. Debates everything. Does things at the last minute. Somehow drinks 10,000 litres of coffee, manages to finish everything with an average or above average result. People just wonder: "How the fcuk?"
Procrastination Ranking. 1 is Ph.D. level. 2/16. Extreme. Absolutely world class extreme.
Task warning. Hopeless project managers. Can be a very good chair of an orgazization as long as there is a excellent CEO such as an Objective Thinker or Enhancer.
As The Bulltish Artist in Action™. Inspirationals can bulltish their way through a debate that they
do not care about.
Are said to be the hands down winner as the bulltisher.
Extraverted Intuition: is basically just a stream of conscious. Similar to verbal diarrhea.
It is if you said every random stupid thing that came into your head all the time.
Intraverted Thinking takes a back seat to Extraverted Intuition. It is as if real logic and facts get
fed directly into the stream of bulltish. Logical consistency gets shredded and become optional or
not needed at all. This is why you often see the Inspirational in arguments based on nothing. They think
that talking more means they are winning.
Extraverted Feeling: They like to tell people about the above bulltish that they come up with.
Intraverted Sensing: This is the function that is responsible for reality checks. All the way at the
bottom. Reality is just a nuisance to an Inspirational. The stream of bulltish that comes out of their
mouth is much more important to them than reality!
Per Parkinson's Law. Additional time to complete any project means more days to continue exploring, investigating and absorbing information. This is the type of procrastinator that is done in by their own best intentions, as they will frequently make their projects much more time consuming and harder to finish than they have to be, driven as they are by a desire to always perform impeccably. They can be a poor finisher and chair meetings without one sheet of paper!
Deadline Ranking and Commentary™. 14/16. Inspirationals do need some deadlines in order to ensure that they can get things finished. Without some structure they will likely have a hard time getting most things completed in a timely fashion. They become so easily distracted by new things and often become bored with the things they are required to do. They can struggle with deadlines though, since they prefer to have a sense of freedom in their lives. They want to feel capable of making their own choices and do not really enjoy feeling forced into completing things.
Accountability Perspective: Reliable. Finds a way to hold themselves accountable when it comes to completing tasks and attending to important responsibilities. Is frequently late.
5. Can it be the Persuader - ENFJ?
Main procrastination focus: On relaxing or making time for themselves.
Tag team: The Appraiser procrastinates in a similar fashion.
Dialogue: The Persuader has a tendency to put other people’s needs before their own. They spend so much time analysing the emotions and concerns of the people they love that they can lose themselves in the process. They tend to see things like “me-time” or relaxation as selfish or indulgent. They may struggle with saying “No” to requests from people and then wind up overwhelmed with a to-do list bursting with obligations. These types also tend to procrastinate about delivering bad news, giving criticism or dealing with nitty-gritty analysis about impersonal subjects. Some Persuaders like to deal with criticism quickly and just get it over with so that it is not hanging over their shoulders. Other Persuaders put it off indefinitely so that they can avoid the negative feelings that the situation will inevitably create.
Dealing with Procrastination:
The Persuader needs an accountability partner to help motivate and keep them on track.
Each day, the three hardest tasks on your to-do list should be done straight away. That way they will not weigh the
Persuader down for the rest of the day.
Reaching for long term goals will not be possible if they are burned out and unhealthy. Make time for rest, relaxation,
and healthy habits - this is especially important for Persuaders.
Needs to learn to say “No” to something is there is insufficient time.
Procrastination Warning. Requires supervision. Searches some cat videos here and there. Manages to get everything done a few days before the deadline.
Procrastination Ranking. 1 is Ph.D. level. 10/16. Medium. Has definite procrastination tendencies.
Task warning. Hopeless on task related projects as people are more important.
As The Bulltish Artist in Action™. Persuaders can and do bulltish their way through life.
Per Parkinson's Law. While they are good at multitasking and like staying busy most of the time, they sometimes overcommit to the point where they have little time left to unwind and relax. These hardy souls will tend to say ‘yes’ to just about anything and, if that tendency becomes habitual, it can lead to a constantly expanding workload. They acquire a deserved reputation of 'overcommit and underdeliver'.
Deadline Ranking and Commentary™. 7/16. Persuaders actually enjoy having deadlines since it helps them maintain a sense of structure. They often have so many things they juggle at once so having a schedule for things helps them keep it together. They are hardworking people who care deeply about their loved ones and want to provide for them. They often have a long list of things to take care of and want to make sure every deadline is met properly and efficiently. Deadlines are a good way for them to keep track of their many errands and projects and to ensure that everything is done in a timely fashion.
Accountability Perspective: Mixed bag. Can be powerful individuals as a result of their charisma, natural communication skills, altruism and leadership capabilities; but on social justice style matters only! Tends to be on time.
6. Can it be the Appraiser - ESFJ
Main procrastination focus: On relaxing or making time for themselves.
Tag team: The Persuader procrastinates in a similar fashion.
Dialogue: The Appraiser has a tendency to put other people’s needs before their own. Some Appraisers like to deal with criticism quickly and just get it over with so that it is not hanging over their shoulders. Other Persuaders put it off indefinitely so that they can avoid the negative feelings that the situation will inevitably create.
Dealing with Procrastination:
The Appraiser needs an accountability partner to help motivate and keep them on track.
Each day, the the three hardest tasks on your to-do list should be done straight away. That way they will not weigh the
Appraiser down for the rest of the day.
Reaching for long term goals will not be possible if they are burned out and unhealthy. Make time for rest, relaxation,
and healthy habits.
Needs to learn to say “No” to something is there is insufficient time.
Procrastination Warning. Requires supervision. Just searches surf and skateboard stuff but gets the task done the day before and does okay.
Procrastination Ranking. 1 is Ph.D. level. 11/16. Medium. Has definite procrastination tendencies.
Task warning. Hopeless on task related projects as people are more important.
As The Bulltish Artist in Action™. Appraisers can call everyone out on the said bulltish.
Per Parkinson's Law. Not really an issue as they are often fairly good when it comes to time management, especially as they do not like letting others down. They often need to keep a strict schedule with certain things, so that they can ensure everything is in hand. They care deeply for their loved ones and do not like doing anything that might jeopardize their happiness. Maintaining their time properly is an important part of making sure they can take care of their loved ones.
Deadline Ranking and Commentary™. 11/16. Appraisers often require deadlines in order to finish things and get them done in a timely fashion. They usually have many things on their plate and might become overwhelmed if they do not have some sort of structure. Having deadlines can help them keep track of which things need to be done first and which things can wait a little longer. They are hardworking people who simply want to be sure to care for their loved ones without disappointing them in any way.
Accountability Perspective: Mixed bag. Can be dismissive of feelings because it will 'lead to a fight'. Is frequently late.
7. Can it be the Promoter - ENFP?
Main procrastination focus: On tasks that require detail and physical needs. The Promoter tends overextend themselves and procrastinate. This is often a source of stress as it complicates their lives. When they become stressed, their naturally charming nature becomes more irritable and over-sensitive.
Tag team: The Inspirational procrastinates in a similar fashion.
The following is a fabulous summary of a Promoter:
Wakes up on a Saturday morning anxious to start writing a story that they dreamed of the night before.
Opens up the laptop, begins typing out the first paragraph and then realises that by writing about space travel they are
reminded of a Netflix documentary they have been wanting to watch on Mars. As they are watching the documentary they
look out the window and see that it is a beautiful sunny day – a day that should not be wasted. The Promoter goes outside,
calls a friend and they do some hiking while discussing the latest concept that has sparked their curiosity.
As they walk, they realise that they have not had a drink all day. They have to find a 7-11 to get a bottle of water.
On their way they start talking about life on other planets. They get so absorbed in the conversation that they
walk right past two 7-11s without noticing them. Late at night the Promoter arrives back at their apartment to see their
laptop open with the first chapter still unfinished. This makes them feel guilty and they convince themselves that they will
finish it the next day. They also realise that they feel sick and dizzy because they have not had enough water to drink.
Dealing with Procrastination:
The Promoter should create a “Vision board” full of creative inspiration and quotes that will help
to stay on track and focus on goals.
Terrible with detail. Does things at the last minute. Somehow drinks 10,000 litres of coffee, manages to finish everything with an average or above average result. People just wonder: "How the fcuk?"
Procrastination Ranking. 1 is Ph.D. level. 1/16. Extreme. Absolutely world class extreme.
Task warning. Hopeless project managers. Never give them a position that requires accountability and deadlines.
As The Bulltish Artist in Action™. Promoters can bulltish their way through any social conversation.
Per Parkinson's Law. The last minute merchant. They definitely do struggle with time management simply because they have such rich inner minds. They become distracted by other things that inspire and excite them and they will often run with them. They do not really do well having to abide by a strict schedule and prefer to feel a sense of freedom in their lives. When they constantly are required to fall in line with specific times for everything, they often feel stifled and unhappy. They are nearly always late but they try their best to avoid upsetting anyone by this by offering feeble excuses.
Deadline Ranking and Commentary™. 16/16. Promoters are not really great at motivating themselves to finish things on time, so deadlines can be helpful in this way. There are times when they might forget their deadlines entirely though, especially if they are distracted by something more interesting. They might need reminders or people to let them know of their impending deadline. They enjoy being able to do their own thing and often find themselves drawn in different directions. Having a deadline can sometimes be helpful, but other times it leaves the Promoter feeling a bit rebellious. Allowing them to work unsupervised is to tempt fate - you have been warned.
Accountability Perspective: Abjectly unreliable. Often full of ideas, but not having the ability to follow through on the boring details as has too many balls in the air at once. Runs late always. Will be late to their own funeral.
8. Can it be the Counselor - ESFP
Main procrastination focus: On long term decisions and follow through.
Tag team: The Results procrastinates in a similar fashion.
Somehow drinks 10,000 litres of coffee, manages to finish everything with an average or above average result. People just wonder: "How the fcuk?"
Procrastination Ranking. 1 is Ph.D. level. 6/16. High. Standard procrastinator.
Task warning. Excellent crisis managers. Do not like boring tasks. Goes well under pressure.
As The Bulltish Artist in Action™. Counselors can bulltish their way through a party even if they hate the hosts.
Per Parkinson's Law. Their need for excitement and stimulation can lead them to procrastinate on projects that require focus and organization to finish them on time. If they are given extra time to finish an assignment, they can easily become distracted. The effect of this is that they will not buckle down and get busy until the deadline is looming over them. Another classic last minute merchant.
Deadline Ranking and Commentary™. 12/16. Counselors can become a little frustrated with deadlines and prefer having the freedom to live in the present. With a looming deadline they can become anxious or even forget about it entirely. They often need plenty of reminders in order to finish their projects and their tasks in a timely fashion. They enjoy living in the moment and want their lives to be filled with new experiences.
Accountability Perspective: Mixed bag. This impulsive, feet-first personality, can get into trouble from lack of planning. Is always late.
9. Can it be the Specialist - ISFP
Main procrastination focus: On taking action.
Tag team: The Agent procrastinates in a similar fashion.
Dialogue: The Specialist struggles with figuring out the most efficient way to get a project done. They are very focussed on living a life that is in line with their personal ethics, values, and ideals, but they can also forget to take tangible action in their pursuit of inner clarity and vision. Coming up with a schedule or a sequential plan to achieve something can be confusing and frustrating to them. It can be hard for them to figure out exactly how much time something will take. Sometimes this means that they struggle to take action because they are too worried about messing it up or not creating something up to their standards.
Dealing with Procrastination:
The Specialist should delete social media from devices if they have an important, urgent task
that needs to be done.
Needs a friend / accountability partner who has a skill for planning (Director, Objective Thinker, Developer, Enhancer). These types can assist with a
step-by-step plan for achieving goals.
Needs alone time. Gets sidetracked by the needs and concerns of other people and forget to get to the things
that are really important. This means losing track of personal projects. Getting time alone will help them sort
out what is really important.
The Specialist does have their own special gifts and are often able to come up with creative spur-of-the-moment
improvements that non-procrastinators miss.
Procrastination Warning. Requires kicks up bum to get action. Has to be told: "Okay, you can do this. Just focus on the task. You NEED TO FOCUS. Fcuking focus now!" Ends up with 19 tabs open on the PC of cute cats licking mangoes.
Procrastination Ranking. 1 is Ph.D. level. 5/16. High. Standard procrastinator.
Task warning. Never put in a leadership position.
As The Bulltish Artist in Action™. Specialists can bulltish their way through their art class and still end up with a score of 96.
Per Parkinson's Law. A user of this. They live their lives in the present which can make managing their time a bit challenging. They prefer to enjoy living their lives from moment to moment and dislike having to abide by a schedule. They are unreliable. They use all the time allocated. They can become distracted by something that catches their attention and this can often keep them occupied. They are sometimes late for things, simply because they are not naturally good at paying attention to the clock.
Deadline Ranking and Commentary™. 10/16. Specialists do not really enjoy having deadlines looming over them and prefer to have a sense of freedom in their lives. While they will do what they can to take care of their important responsibilities, it can be challenging for them sometimes. They do not like feeling stressed to get things done by a certain time and would rather have some space and the ability to take their time. They might require a deadline though and plenty of reminders when it comes to vital tasks.
Accountability Perspective: Appalling. Finds it hard to admit mistakes blames others when they want to avoid conflict. Is always late.
10. Can it be the Investigator - INFJ?
Main procrastination focus: On socializing or being present.
Tag team: The Enhancer procrastinates in a similar fashion.
Dialogue: The Investigator gets their biggest thrills from envisioning future possibilities and taking apart abstract concepts. They are more likely to be interested in the underlying meaning of what is happening rather than the concrete details. While this can be a good thing, has a tendency to overdo it. They may become so focussed on the future or finding a hidden meaning that they miss experiences happening right before their eyes. They can become blind to joys and simple pleasures because their heads are so filled with theoretical “what-if’s” and scenarios. Procrastination can also show up in their social lives. They run the risk of always having an excuse to not get together with the people they care about and wind up feeling lonely or unsupported as a result. This is not across the board. Some may struggle with these forms of procrastination daily while others only experience them on rare occasions.
Dealing with Procrastination:
The Investigator should break large, overwhelming projects down into small chunks. Focus on the small
steps needed to achieve the goal instead of getting overwhelmed by the immensity of the one goal itself.
Done is better than perfect. Tend to be perfectionistic and they can delay finishing something for long periods
simply because they need it to match their internalised vision. Instead of deliberating or waiting for
timing to be absolutely perfect just begin, even if you feel you are not at your best. That can be difficult if not
being pushed.
Find an accountability partner, Objective Thinker is ideal, and talk over your goals with them. Use their encouragement to stay on
track with deadlines and goals.
Should not continually put off socialising. Getting alone time is essential, but you also need interaction with the
outside world to be balanced. Introverts who balance alone time with occasional socialising function better, have more
support, and are usually able to think more objectively.
Should not wait for inspiration every time on a project or idea. As an intuitive you tend to want a “spark” of
inspiration to get you started on something. Sometimes the inspiration happens while doing the project, not before.
Should begin and see where the ideas end up.
Procrastination Warning. Will drop you procrastinators when they can. Searches some cat videos here and there. Manages to get everything done a few days before the deadline.
Procrastination Ranking. 1 is Ph.D. level. 9/16. Medium. Has definite procrastination tendencies.
Task warning. Tends to be the reverse of the Enhancer - excellent on a team generally, but terrible on a team if the others are procrastinators.
As The Bulltish Artist in Action™. Investigators can bulltish their way through therapy even if they are insane.
Per Parkinson's Law. Are often in the middle when it comes to time management. They prefer to make it to things on time and do not like being late as often this would leave them feeling embarrassed. They definitely try to keep things organized and do not want to be disrespectful of others. While they are usually capable of managing their time, there are some situations where they become distracted. When they become too caught up inside of their own thoughts they can lose track of their physical surroundings. They definitely try to keep this from happening, but sometimes they just cannot help it.
Deadline Ranking and Commentary™. 5/16. Investigators do not mind having deadlines and often find they are a helpful way to get things done. They like having that sense of structure to help them focus and motivate. They can actually struggle to motivate themselves if they do not have some sort of deadline and time restraints. They can certainly put deadlines on themselves when it comes to certain projects, but it is a more helpful way to process the situation. They do become stressed with too many deadlines though, and might become a bit overwhelmed in these situations.
Accountability Perspective: Mixed bag. Mostly responds rather than initiates. Is on time.
11. Can it be the Agent - INFP?
Main procrastination focus: On taking action.
Tag team: The Specialist procrastinates in a similar fashion.
Dialogue: The Agent struggles with figuring out the most efficient way to get a project done.
The Agent should delete social media from devices if they have an important, urgent task
that needs to be done.
The Agent does have their own special gifts and are often able to come up with creative spur-of-the-moment
improvements that non-procrastinators miss.
Procrastination Warning. Requires kicks up bum to get any action. This pattern is both lazy and a whinger. Has to be told: "Okay, you can do this. Just focus on the task. You NEED TO FOCUS. Fcuking focus NOW!" Ends up with 19 tabs open on the PC of cute cats licking mangoes.
Procrastination Ranking. 1 is Ph.D. level. 4/16. Very high. In the danger zone.
Task warning. Never put in a leadership position.
As The Bulltish Artist in Action™. Agents cannot bulltish anything.
Per Parkinson's Law. Are not always good with time management, simply because they become distracted easily. They do not often enjoy having to pay close attention to the time and are not necessarily connected to the physical world around them. They can become so caught up inside of their own constantly spiraling inner thoughts that it can become challenging to really pull themselves out of this. When they are thinking through something, or simply enjoying a daydream, they can often lose track of time and completely forget about something they need to be attending to.
Deadline Ranking and Commentary™. 9/16. Agents do not usually enjoy deadlines and might find them a bit overwhelming. On the other hand, they might struggle to get things done if they do not have some sort of deadline. Having this sense of impending doom can actually help motivate them to finish their projects or errands. They are not always great at motivating themselves to get things done and often have many other distractions that seem much more intriguing then the things they are required to finish.
Accountability Perspective: Mixed bag. Based on their values. Not reliable to get things done without follow up. Is sometimes late.
12. Can it be the Achiever - ISTP?
Main procrastination focus: On social obligations and personal problems.
Tag team: The Perfectionist procrastinates in a similar fashion.
Dialogue: The Achiever is extremely autonomous. They like having their own space and doing things without having to rely on a lot of other individuals. They tend to procrastinate about returning phone calls, attending social gatherings or dealing with conversations that they know will be emotionally intense and involved. Achievers tend to procrastinate dealing with long-term future planning. They would rather be actively involved in accomplishing something NOW than focus on theoretical or hypothetical future scenarios. Tend to dislike the “touchy-feely” aspects of life. Dealing with inter-personal tension or analysing’s someone’s personal life can be frustrating to them.
Dealing with Procrastination:
The Achiever should break a large, daunting project down into small steps so it does not seem as overwhelming.
Then give yourself small rewards for each step that you accomplish.
Deactivate social media accounts, Netflix, or other distracting programs temporarily when there is an urgent
task that needs to be accomplished.
Get enough time alone to really work through your projects without getting distracted by alternatives in the
outside world.
Should focus on doing one positive thing repeatedly for 21 days so that it becomes automatic.
Internalize the fact that everything you do is a choice.
Procrastination Warning. Requires supervision to get on with things. Has to be told: "Okay, you can do this. Just focus on the task. You NEED TO FOCUS. Fcuking focus now!" Ends up with 19 tabs open on the PC of cute cats licking mangoes.
Procrastination Ranking. 1 is Ph.D. level. 8/16. High. Standard procrastinator.
Task warning. Never put in a position that requires continuous interaction with people.
As The Bulltish Artist in Action™. Achievers can bulltish on anything.
Per Parkinson's Law. they live their lives focussed on the present and, because of this, time management is not always their strength. They do not like becoming hung up on paying attention to the clock all of the time and would much rather enjoy their lives. They will do their best to make it to important things on time but, in many situations, they can show up a bit late. Managing their time can often be a bit frustrating and that often makes them feel stifled.
Deadline Ranking and Commentary™. 8/16. Achievers are definitely procrastinators but they will certainly do what they can to get things done in time. They might put off certain tasks that they do not find important, but will work hard to take care of the vital responsibilities. They do not enjoy constant structure in their lives and enjoy the freedom to do whatever they please. They are independent people who can become a bit frustrated when others are constantly reminding them of their deadlines.
Accountability Perspective: Good. Independent people who definitely believe in taking responsibility for their own actions. Is sometimes late.
13. Can it be the Practitioner - ISFJ?
Main procrastination focus: On waiting for too many details.
Tag team: The Objective Thinker procrastinates in a similar fashion.
Dialogue: The Practitioner is a low level procrastinator, but they still can struggle with it if they feel like they do not have enough information. They like to know all the details and facts and have a very clear, specific direction before they begin a project. If their knowledge base is not “adequately” filled or if they are not familiar enough with where they are going then they can put off starting a project for a long time. This is especially true if they have a personal project or goal without a specific deadline. They tend to be motivated by deadlines and so if there is not one, or if the guidelines are not clear, they can get stuck not knowing how to begin or not being motivated to finish. They can procrastinate about dealing with conflict situations or giving out criticism.
Dealing with Procrastination:
The Practitioner should set a deadline and announce it to someone as motivation comes when they have a
deadline and accountability.
If stuck on the details of a project, schedule a day to research the details and get them in order so that you
can begin. If you feel like you may get lost in these details, see if you can get an associate such as an Enhancer to help you
stay focussed on the big picture and where you want the project to go.
Tends to be perfectionistic. Nothing is absolutely perfect and getting it done provides its own rewards.
Need to just do the best they can.
Should break large projects into bite-sized chunks. Tick off each section as you go. Doing this will help
motivation and avoid overwhelmed.
Procrastination Warning. Must have a leader who sets deadlines or they procrastinate. Has to be told: "Okay, you can do this. Just focus on the task. You NEED TO FOCUS. Fcuking focus now!" Ends up with 19 tabs open on the PC of cute cats licking mangoes.
Procrastination Ranking. 1 is Ph.D. level. 12/16. Medium. Has definite procrastination tendencies.
Task warning. Never put in a position of project management or leadership.
As The Bulltish Artist in Action™. Practitioners are similar to the Agent except that they actually considered trying to bulltish and probably felt bad about even considering it.
Per Parkinson's Law. This hard-working pattern demands so much of themselves that they may become prone to Parkinson’s Law. While their outstanding work ethic is generally a positive trait, they can become too dependent on their jobs or on other important responsibilities to generate a sense of self-worth. As a result, they can cross the line into workaholism, filling up their extra hours with strenuous tasks instead of taking the time to stop and smell the roses.
Deadline Ranking and Commentary™. 6/16. Practitioners are definitely good at responding to deadlines on time and efficiently. They often keep things in their life organized and might even prefer to write things done in order to maintain a sense of structure. They do not become overwhelmed with deadlines and often enjoy being able to keep track of things this way. Without having some sort of deadline, it can be more challenging for them to keep things organized properly, so deadlines are certainly are helpful for the Practitioner.
Accountability Perspective: Good. Hold themselves accountable to get things done. But wavers when conflict is involved. Always on time and expects others to be as well.
14. Can it be the Objective Thinker - ISTJ?
Main procrastination focus: On waiting for too many details.
Tag team: The Practitioner procrastinates in a similar fashion.
Dialogue: The Objective Thinker is a low level procrastinator, but they still can struggle with it if they feel like they do not have enough information.
Dealing with Procrastination:
The Objective Thinker should set a deadline and announce it to someone as motivation comes when they have a
deadline and accountability. Or the Gantt chart.
Must have a leader who sets deadlines. They research unrelated facts for a few hours and then get the ess, aitch, one, tee done on time as they have allowed sufficient time for the task.
Procrastination Ranking. 1 is Ph.D. level. 16/16. Low. Has completed tomorrows work yesterday.
Task warning. Excellent project managers as tend to find the detail and get going.
As The Bulltish Artist in Action™. Objective Thinkers can bulltish their way through giving a lecture or advice.
Per Parkinson's Law. No problems here. They are excellent at time management and often enjoy maintaining a schedule. This helps them get things done and take care of the important things in life. They do not like allowing their responsibilities to fall apart; instead they work hard to maintain everything. They are focussed and driven people who become frustrated by others who are lazy. When someone is constantly late they often see this as a major sign of disrespect towards others or just plain rude.
Deadline Ranking and Commentary™. 3/16. Objective Thinkers do not mind having deadlines and actually enjoy this type of structure. They can handle the pressure rather well and will focus on ensuring that they can get their work finished on time. They are efficient people who believe in finding the best way to finish their projects so that everything works effectively. When it comes to deadlines they actually do best having this type of schedule so that they can maintain a stronger focus on getting everything finished.
Accountability Perspective: Good. Since they have heaped the responsibility on themselves, they may then believe that the responsibility for failure is theirs alone to bear. Always on time.
15. Can it be the Perfectionist - INTP?
Main procrastination focus: On social obligations and personal problems.
Tag team: The Achiever procrastinates in a similar fashion.
Dialogue: The Perfectionist is extremely autonomous. They like having their own space and doing things without having to rely on a lot of other individuals. They tend to procrastinate about returning phone calls, attending social gatherings or dealing with conversations that they know will be emotionally intense and involved. Perfectionists tend to procrastinate when it comes to dealing with issues in the here-and-now. They might get lost speculating about an idea or possibility and lose sight of an appointment they had in the present moment. Tend to dislike the “touchy-feely” aspects of life. Dealing with inter-personal tension or analysing’s someone’s personal life can be frustrating to them.
Dealing with Procrastination:
The Perfectionist should break a large, daunting project down into small steps so it does not seem as overwhelming.
1 is Ph.D. level. 3/16. Very high. In the danger zone.
Task warning. Never put in a position that requires continuous interaction with people or as a leader.
As The Bulltish Artist in Action™. Perfectionists can bulltish their way through by giving out useless and irrelevent information.
Per Parkinson's Law. There is actually a strong awareness of their inclination to procrastinate and not finish anything. They can tell you how easily they become distracted when they have a lot of time to finish a project, acknowledge their habit of becoming absorbed by details that do not really require so much attention, and rue the perfectionism that can keep them wrapped up in an assignment far longer than necessary. Give them a lot of time to work and they will use up all of it, as they themselves willingly admit. They are hopeless finishers, bar none.
Deadline Ranking and Commentary™. 15/16. Perfectionists can become a bit anxious with deadlines sometimes and enjoy having freedom to get things done on their own terms. Without some deadlines, they will find themselves struggling to finish things in a timely fashion - or at all. They do need to have deadlines for certain important projects, or else they might become distracted. They do best when they have reminders for these things, but too many reminders just leaves them feeling more uneasy. They need a combination of deadlines and also creative freedoms so they can have some sense of independence.
Accountability Perspective: Good. Chafe at the oversight and limitations that they encounter. Woeful finisher. Can forget about time.
16. Can it be the Enhancer - INTJ?
Main procrastination focus: On socializing or being present.
Tag team: The Investigator procrastinates in a similar fashion.
Dialogue: The Enhancer gets their biggest thrills from envisioning future possibilities and taking apart abstract concepts.
The Enhancer should break large, overwhelming projects down into small chunks.
Will drop all you procrastinators when they can. They research unrelated facts for a few hours and then get the ess, aitch, one, tee done on time as they have allowed sufficient time for the task.
Procrastination Ranking. 1 is Ph.D. level. 13/16. Low. Has completed tomorrows work yesterday.
Task warning. Excellent team leader but terrible as a member of a team especially so if the others are procrastinators.
As The Bulltish Artist in Action™. Enhancers can bulltish their way through any test or assessment even if they did not study for it.
Per Parkinson's Law. This does not apply as they are so efficient. They are always good with time management simply because they do not like falling behind with anything. If they make a plan or commitment to be somewhere or meet a deadline, they will definitely follow through. While they do have rich inner worlds which can be distracting at times, they do not let this affect their daily lives. They simply cannot stand people who cannot properly manage their time such as the medical profession. They feel that being late is a sign of disrespect. The doctor tells the receptionist to book by the clock when the doctor operates by the calendar.
Deadline Ranking and Commentary™. 2/16. Enhancers do not really need deadlines in order to get their work finished, but it can be helpful to maintain a sense of structure. Having these deadlines set by others when there is no need stresses the Enhancer out. Other times deadlines assist in getting things done. They are responsible and hardworking people who will not allow distractions to pull them away from something they deem important. They enjoy being able to dive into something and will likely get it finished in the appropriate amount of time, but they do enjoy having extra time to have their perfect or a very high standard as a minimum.
Accountability Perspective: Always. The mastermind and strategist. Others view them as exceptionally responsible and competent and therefore hold them to a higher standard. They demand accontability in others - since they were in the womb. Always on time and expects others to be as well.
